A condenser studio microphone is suitable for capturing a wide variety of sounds. It was designed with voice recording in mind, but it can also be used to record instruments. The SC100 has a cardioid pattern which means it captures the sound directly in front the microphone.

Cardioid Condenser Microphone for a Pro Vocal Sound
A cardioid condenser mic is the perfect all-around mic for vocal and instrument recording, and the unidirectional pickup pattern keeps the recording from sounding too ambient. The SC100 has an 18mm aluminium diaphragm and a wide frequency response. With a maximum sound pressure rating of 136dB SPL, you can safely use the SC100 with guitar amps, drums and other loud instruments.
